Frequently Asked Questions
Let’s be honest: cannabis packaging is a lot. It’s bulky, it’s complex, and most of it isn’t welcome in your curbside yellow bin. That’s why Prairie & Luna has partnered with the fine folks at Purple Hills to host a dedicated space for all those "hard-to-recycle" cannabis packages. Whether you are a local resident or a tourist cleaning up your cottage after a great summer weekend, your empty packaging can find a second life instead of a landfill.
-
We accept virtually all empty, legal cannabis packaging components! This includes plastic flower jars, joint tubes, exit bags, empty vape cartridges, disposable pens, and tincture bottles. If it came from a regulated dispensary, it has a place in our bin.
-
Not at all! Whether you bought it here, down the road, or at another regulated shop across Ontario before driving up to the Valley, you are welcome to drop your empties into our Purple Bin. We are in this to clean up the industry footprint together.
-
To keep our bin clean and safe for processing, please ensure all packaging is completely empty of organic material. For glass or plastic jars, a quick rinse is highly appreciated but not strictly required.
-
Thanks to our partnership with Purple Hills, your waste bypasses municipal systems that reject cannabis plastics. The materials collected in our Petawawa shop are securely shipped, broken down, and melted into raw materials to be manufactured into long-life consumer goods, giving them a true second life.

We want to cut down on waste and reward you for doing your part. Bring back any 4-pack or 6-pack beverage carrier (it doesn't even have to be ours!) on your next visit, and we will take $0.75 off your entire purchase as a thank you.
Please note: This eco-incentive applies exclusively to rigid beverage carriers and cannot be applied to paper weed bags.
