High There, Em!
Hey, High, Hello! Welcome to High There, Bud, a series introducing the amazing buds that you’ve gotten to know and love here at Prairie and Luna. This week we’re chatting with our dear, dear Em. Em has been with us since day one. She has moved from budtender to floor supervisor to assistant social media manager in just a few short months! If you’ve encountered Em during a visit to P+L, you know how lucky we are to have her on our team. Never has there ever been such a cool cucumber. Em manages a busy rush like none other and her patience and curiosity in matching our customers to their best possible cannabis fit is such a beautiful skill. Plus, she has a stunning eye for design - Em does all our in-store posters and cutie social media graphics!! And as if that wasn’t enough, she’s been doing all of this while cooking our newest little bud. We’ll miss her beautiful energy and adorable baby bump terribly while she’s on her maternity leave, but absolutely can’t wait to meet the newest member of the squad. Now without further ado, a chat with Em…
1. Share a bit about your cannabis journey.
My cannabis Journey began with me sneaking around getting high with my friends on whatever weed we could get our hands on, trying not to get caught by my parents and have my stash confiscated too often. As time went on I realized how helpful cannabis was for my sleep. As someone who’s always loved to sleep but have never been great at falling asleep, I began using cannabis almost nightly in my early teens, still trying to hide it from my parents while I smoke out the bathroom window with the shower or bath running, naively thinking they didn’t know what I was up to. lol
Shortly after high school, I was only partaking occasionally, and after a couple of bad highs, I decided to take some time away from cannabis. Then a couple of years later cannabis is legal and I find myself fully immersed in the cannabis world. I begin to use cannabis for sleep and anxiety, I’m openly chatting about cannabis with my family, getting high with my best friend again, and then finding myself in the most amazing workplace, Prairie and Luna Cannabis CO. I’m on a little bit of a break from cannabis currently, only partaking occasionally when the lovely pregnancy symptoms are really hitting me hard. I honestly would have never imagined that I would end up here with cannabis, but I am loving working in the cannabis industry and I can’t wait to see how my cannabis journey evolves!
2. What is your role at P&L and what is one thing you love to chat about with customers?
I am a supervisor/budtender, as well as the assistant department manager for Prairie and Luna’s social media! :) I am notorious for always asking lots of questions for absolutely everything and so when it comes to chatting with customers I’m asking all the questions to do my best to assist you in finding the right product for you. No matter what it is I am happy to help!
3. What’s your preferred way to consume cannabis? What’s your current go-to product and why.
I have always loved smoking! I started off mostly smoking a bong or from a pipe but now I truly enjoy smoking a good ol’ joint. Something about sitting outside, sparking up that joint, and taking the first puff has become so relaxing for me and it always helps to let go of a long day. I am currently taking a bit of a tolerance break but I would say that fairly consistently either Limelight flower by Edison or the Wappa Redees were my favourite go-to’s no matter what! But also, the delicious Blackberry Lemon Dream Soft chews from Ace Valley are absolutely amazing for evening, with that CBN!
4. What’s your favourite song right now?
I have many current favourites because well I’m indecisive af and listen to music all day long! But I’ve been caught in a Kacey Musgrave’s phase for a while now, and currently, I’ve had her song Silver Lining on repeat.
5. What’s your favourite hobby/activity?
I love going for walks. I’m happy to go for walks anywhere alone, with my best friends or the pups but especially happy if I’m immersed within the trees, hunting for mushrooms, cool moss, and beautiful lookouts. Ouuu, and winter walks in the forest are my absolute favourite! I’m obsessed with snow and there’s just something about a sunny walk in the woods after a fresh snowfall that just lights my soul on fire!
6. And of course, a little tribute to all the P&L furbabies!
My partner and I have a love for animals mixed with an inability to resist any sweet fur baby, so we have created a small zoo with occasional fosters. We currently have 3 cats, Goose, Theodore and Penelope, 2 big goofball German sheppard’s, Atlas and Delta and then we have some fish. It’s a busy house at times but we absolutely adore them and there’s nothing better than chillin’ at home with all our fur babies, enjoying all the snuggles!!
